Open Text Corporation:
Competing for scarce employees in a high-tech hub, Open Text Corporation knew its headquarters had to be something special. The Canadian software company made it so by opening things up with low-profile Ethospace workstations and a mix of informal collaboration areas. The creative configuration also allowed Open Text to increase its density significantly—though employees say the space feels roomier than ever.
“Everyone basically worked in a box—there wasn’t even much sense of people being in the space,” says Mike Cumming, vice president of global procurement and facilities. “We felt a more open environment would look less institutional and be more attractive to the type of people we need.”
